I have this friend who bakes bread. You know who you are. And she inspires me to bake bread. Also other things. But bread mostly. And she reminds me to be grateful for simple things.
Bread. Floofy sticky soft lumps of dough with flour dustings. When it’s baked it’s all golden brown and buttery and delicious. I am so inspired with bread right now. She bakes sourdough bread. I bake whole wheat and white. I really do not like sourdough.
Anyway. Staying at home has also taught me to be thankful for the simple things. I stirred up my first batch of macarons. They turned out wrinkled and cracked but I made a vanilla buttercream and loved them. I made bread. I baked a vanilla cake. I wrote my heart out. I gave the shower room a good cleaning. I played games with my siblings. Me and my sister sang duets. I baked chewy chocolate chip cookies. I baked a lot as you can see.
Tomorrow my youngest sister wants to bake bread and I’m the designated one to teach her. This will be fun.
Life has never been better. Today it was warm and sunny and I was helping a lady spring clean her house. On my way home I honked my horn at one of the church ladies. She was out in their yard with her two girls. We waved at each other and my heart bloomed. It’s so nice to see people. And with all the warm weather we’re having, there were a lot of people doing their yards. It was nice seeing people outside.
That’s my ‘quarantined’ life. It’s good.
Happy safe weekend to everyone☺️
baking bread is a simple pleasure❤ and always always worth it.
Ha. It went good. I made her measure things out, and then I stirred and had her stir. Then I kneaded the dough and had her feel the stickiness and softness. After that, I let the dough rise, and then she helped me shape the loaves. The bread looks wonderful, sitting on the table in browned buttery goodness.
update us on how the teaching to bake bread goes! 😁
:). yay.
