Nervous Storm

The wind ran in little dashing dents inside the

Sheets of rain hitting the parched ground.

I stood outside on the wetted concrete,

Watching gravity play illusory tricks;

Wishing to be swaying in nature.

That nervous, chaotic dance

Of noisy, electric energy.

Yes, my good people. Finally a storm. And what a storm. Hail. Tornado warnings. Damage done to people’s barns and houses. Hopefully, no-one is hurt.

And, knowing it will storm the whole night. For this, I have waited.

Not for the damage, but for the storm. For the stark voice of thunder, for the pearls of rain, for the burning tracks of lightning.

I delight in chaotic energy.

o my heart yes. I eagerly await our storm this afternoon, watching clouds obsessively, while dabbling toes in this Papikwan River of mine
