Red Geraniums

Red geraniums bloom in the peaceful chapel yard

Where many souls have crumbled into dust,

All that remains are marble monuments

And stately evergreens standing silent guard.

The wind blows birdsong gently down the hills

And the musty smells of yesteryear days,

But the chapel stands yet with faded coats of paint

Holding holy reverence, holding it still.

Remember to come before you cross the bar

And sit awhile on the warm shady hill,

Forget the noise, come and be filled

With red geraniums blooming in the chapel yard.
