The Light Between Oceans, by
M.L. Stedman
4.0
"For the briefest moment, he had no edges."
"Every creature needed its place of refuge."
I liked this book and I didn't like it.
John and Isabel (isobel?), Hannah, the parents and other town-people had struggles and joys, just as people do irl, and I understood that the baby stealing was the plot, but I didn't like it.
Apparently, I'm not big on kidnapping. I did like the descriptions of scenery and human emotion, and the time-line and the landscape chosen.
I also thought the ending was perfectly balanced to the story.
"He watches the ocean surrender to night, knowing that light will reappear."
Book review for the book of the month--May. I forget who recommended it to me, but thank you, thou unknown.
I'm empty, cleaned out, put away. I don't have anything more to say. Summer is hustling and so we must all hustle with it, only stopping once in awhile to catch a reprieve in grassy fields. So far, this summer is the best summer of my life, yet.
I hope all of your summers are going to be good, too.
Blessings to all. Bye.
