The Bird on the Sill

When I was sobbing on the kitchen floor,

A bird perched on the sill and sang

A song,

And in my sorrow I heard a cry of pain

And agreed with the bird on my sill.

When I was delirious with happiness

And danced around the kitchen table,

I heard the bird,

And I thought I heard a joyful song

And I smiled at the bird on my sill.
